The Apprentice Review

Commentary

These are only my opinions. Form your own and let me know what you think.

THE FINAL WEEK : Well, one thing is for sure. Tana works well under pressure. You could tell she wasn't happy at times during the LIVE show, but she didn't lose her cool. She maybe thought she had it made last week, so it didn't matter what she thought of her teammates. (But you know what? It did matter. It always matters how you treat people.) Still, I like Tana and I'm sure she'll do well. Being number 2 is not a bad thing. She evidently has some lessons to learn before she can be number 1, and that's OK. That's how we grow and get better.

Congratulations, Kendra!

WEEK SEVENTEEN: Tana had a hard time getting her people to do what she wanted, and problems just seemed to keep cropping up. She badmouthed her team to Caroline, which didn't set well.

Chris and Brian were stubborn about doing things the way they wanted, but Chris was a good worker and he wants Tana to win. We'll see.

Sponsors didn't have good things to say about Tana, not like Kendra's sponsors. Kendra's sponsors seemed very happy with her the day of the event, and Kendra didn't seem stressed in the least. She and her teammates got along really well. Hugs for all at the end of the day -- a complete opposite of Tana's day.

My thoughts on who will be the Apprentice?

I think Kendra will be the Apprentice. There. I said it. :)

------------------------------------------------

WEEK SIXTEEN: Craig was fired 15 minutes into the show. You knew it was coming after seeing the interviews. He looked quite uncomfortable there.

Then, it went on to a contest between Kendra and Tana. Who would have thought two women would be the top 2? (Do I sound sexist? Nah, I sound like someone who's been watching "The Apprentice" from the beginning and it just hasn't happened before.)

Three of Kendra's old teammates came back to help her - Michael, Danny, and Erin. She was about as happy to see them as Tana was to see her old teammates - Brain, Chris, and Kristen. Tana immediately asked Trump if she could exchange them. :)

Kendra was in charge of the Best Buy Video Game Tournament, and Tana was in charge of the NYC 2012 Athlete Challenge.

Kendra has a problem on her hands, so we'll see how next week turns out.

Tana is fully ready to fire anyone who doesn't shape up. We'll see. No one has ever done that before. It might be interesting. :)

My thoughts on who will be the Apprentice?

Well, last week I said "No Contest." This week, after hearing one of the judges say she really thought Kendra had what it takes, I have to reconsider. They both probably have an equal chance at it. If it came to personalities, I would say Tana, hands down, would be the new Apprentice. But I have to remember that Kendra has pulled through a couple of times when I was sure she wouldn't have.

------------------------------------------------

WEEK FIFTEEN: Alex was fired! I couldn't believe it. Everything pointed to Tana getting fired and then, boom, "Alex -- you're fired!"

The teams were to create a Hanes Original t-shirt to sell at Scoop. This was to celebrate 50 years of t-shirt culture. Alex and Tana worked well together, but it looked like Alex's main goal was to make keep score of everything Tana did wrong so he could cover his you-know-what in the Boardroom.

Craig and Kendra did not work well together, but they managed to win. Their marketing was so far superior to Alex and Tana's nonexistent marketing (other than getting people off the street to come in and buy), that it's no surprise they won. They made almost double what Net Worth did.

The winning team flew on fighter planes in head to head combat. Kendra smoked Craig.

My thoughts on who will be the Apprentice?

Tana. No contest.

------------------------------------------------

WEEK FOURTEEN: Bren was fired -- which surprised us! All along, especially when we saw how badly they were beat, we figured Trump would fire the project manager - Alex. I mean, hasn't that been the pattern?

The teams were to create an innovative product for Staples that would clean up the clutter. Alex and Bren designed a portable table that took up a lot of room and wasn't all that handy. Actually, it was mostly Alex's design. Again, a sign that he would be fired, since it came off so badly.

Craig, Kendra, and Tana went to the Staples people personally and found out what they wanted, plus they went to the people and saw what they shopped for. Alex and Bren evidently didn't think that was necessary.

The winning team had breakfast with Caroline and George in the Radio City Suite in the Rainbow Room. Quite a treat, getting to know someone that they just might be working with, should they be chosen The Apprentice.

As with the companies in the episodes before, Staples is now promoting that product.

There will be no exemptions this week, since we're down to the Top 4.

My thoughts for the Top 4 now?

I think I can tell you with all certainty that the Top 4 are Tana, Alex, Craig, and Kendra. <grin>

------------------------------------------------

WEEK THIRTEEN: Chris was finally fired. He'd been on the losing team 7 weeks in a row. I guess it was about time. Donald called Chris back to tell him that he thinks he's a good kid. (Caroline and George pretty much agreed with that.) Donald asked Chris to do two things for him. To watch his temper and not chew tobacco. Chris said he would. Chris is the only one that I remember being called back for a little pep talk.

The teams were to create a promotion brochure for the Pontiac Solstice.

Chris, Alex, and Bren pulled an all nighter, although Alex did catch a little catnap around 6 in the morning. Bren wrote the brochure and neither Alex nor Chris liked it, but they didn't say anything until they got to the Boardroom where they lost and Chris got fired.

Kendra pulled an all nighter, but Tana and Craig wouldn't, so she designed the brochure alone and they won. Pontiac liked it so much they are using it for the campaign! Isn't that fantastic?

The winning team played basketball in Madison Square Garden with Isaiah Thomas, one of the NBA's best small guards leading the Pistons to 2 NBA championships.

My thoughts for the Top 4 now?

The five left are Kendra, Tana, Craig, Alex, and Bren. Alex isn't looking as good as he was. If Kendra wasn't exempt, I think she would be the next to go. Now, I guess it could be Craig or Bren. Hm. Verrrrry interesting.

------------------------------------------------

WEEK TWELVE: Angie was fired. She froze up on her presentation.

The teams were to design items of clothing that would hold popular electronic gadgets, and they were given $5000 to spend on the gadgets. Magna won.

Tana is the champion as she has been the Project Manager of two winning teams so far. No one else has done that. For their reward, the team was taken to Bergdof Goodman's to shop. I don't know what their budget was, but it had to be a fantastic amount!

My thoughts for the Top 4 now?

Well, it looks like Alex is still getting "The Bill Treatment". I'm thinking Alex, Bren, and Tana for sure. I might hazard a guess, because of his extraordinary luck so far, that Chris might make it to the Top 4.

--------------------------------------------

WEEK ELEVEN:
Well, what a turn of events. All the way through the boardroom scene I just knew it was Chris who was going to get fired. Oops. Stephannie was fired because she, as Project Manager, didn't have control.

Their job was to create a pizza for Domino's Pizza.

Net Worth with Stephannie, Chris, Angie, and Alex lost. Their pizza was called "Meatball Masterpiece", and they brought in $523.90. Magna with Craig, Bren, Tana, and Kendra named their pizza "Monza Meatballs" and Dominoe's is going to give that name to their new pizza. They brought in $653.12.

Magna was treated to breakfast in Donald Trump's apartment. The view was fantastic. The rooms were full of gold. Gold fixtures, gold accessories, gold on the ceilings.

NOTE: In my Popularity Poll, Erin shot from 761 views to 1153. Wow.

My thoughts for the Top 4 now?

Well, it looks like Alex is getting what I call "The Bill Treatment". Trump is treating him a lot like he did Bill in the final weeks. I'm thinking Alex, Bren, and Tana and maybe Angie.

------------------------------------------------

WEEK TEN: Magna -- Craig as Project Manager, Bren, Alex, Kendra, and Tana -- won. They were awarded a ride in a 727 with zero gravity force. Man-oh-man. (I believe it was Kendra who said Craig was the only one that deserved it.)

Net Worth -- Angie as Project Manager, Chris, Stephannie, and Erin -- lost.

Their job was to do a project at Home Depot and present it to families as a do-it-yourself project that would only take about an hour.

Net Worth picked a kitchen shelving unit of sorts. It took them 7 hours to complete the first one, so how they thought they would be able to present it to the public, particularly a family, as something anyone would want to and could do in about an hour, I don't know.

Magna picked a box. Rather, Craig picked a box and everyone else jumped ship. Finally the rest of the team decided to help. It turned out that the box was a fantastic idea. Evidently, Home Depot thought so, too, and had an advertisement right at the end of the show advertising doing that exact project now. What a boon for Craig!

Wow. The boardroom was a strain on Trump this week. It looked like he really wanted to fire Angie and if it hadn't been for George and Caroline standing up for her, she would have been. It looked as though he also wanted to fire Chris. In my opinion, Trump kept picking fights with Chris, especially about his chewing habit. I think Chris stood up for himself admirably. It's quite apparent that if a person doesn't stand up for himself, he's gooooooooone! I don't think he wanted to fire Erin, but she said one too many things. Especially according to Caroline. Caroline is quite a taskmaster, eh? I don't think Chris will be around much longer -- Trump really doesn't like people who chew chewing tobacco.

My thoughts for the Top 4 now?

Well, it looks like Craig has a shot -- he did a fantastic job this week. And I'm still thinking Alex, Bren, and Tana.

------------------------------------------------

WEEK NINE: This was a rerun week. Some "never before shown" shots of the apprentices. I learned that Chris scares Angie, that Trump invited Verna up to his office the day after she quit and told her to never give up, and I saw what a hard time Magna had when they tried to "sell" their idea of the cucumber episode to Carolyn. I would not have wanted to be in their shoes. :)

------------------------------------------------

WEEK EIGHT: The teams were given the job of producing an eleven minute live charity auction, and I think they each had a ball doing something none of them had done before.

There was a corporate restructure. Kendra was the Project Manager of Magda and her teammates were Tana, Craig, Bren, and Alex.

Chris was the Project Manager for Net Worth and his teammates were Stephannie, Erin, John, and Angie.

Magda won. Donald felt they had already won the prize by bringing in so much money for the charity, so there wasn't an actual prize for them..

It looked obvious to me that it was going to be Chris who got fired. Wow. I had John pegged as one of the Top 4. Man, was I wrong. He showed on this episode that he wasn't a real team player. His "I"s came out regularly.

My thoughts for the Top 4 now?

Well, it looks like Chris has a shot. And I'm still thinking Alex, Bren, and Tana. Although Erin is slipping in there sometimes. :)

------------------------------------------------

WEEK SEVEN: They were given the job of creating a Miniature Golf Course. Net Worth had problems from the beginning with a lot of conflict between John and Audrey, and Net Worth lost. Project Manager, Audrey, got fired.

Net Worth brought in $304 and Magna brought in $508.

The winners got a great gift, as usual! They were flown to Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey, and golfed with a golf pro and Trump. You could tell Erin didn't know her way around a golf ball, let alone a golf course. :)

My thoughts for the Top 4? Alex, John, Bren, Tana.

------------------------------------------------

WEEK SIX: They were given the job of creating a mural on a 20' tall outside wall in Harlem for Sony Play Station. They each did a good job on the murals. Net Worth lost, though, and Tara got fired.

The winners got a great gift! A famous photographer shot individual shots, plus group shots of them with the Donald Trump! Something they will treasure forever.

Tara was the Project Manager, and she picked Craig and Audrey to go to the Boardroom with her. I would have picked Audrey to fire, but Donald picked Tara.

Caroline wasn't there again this week, and the same unsmiling lady as last week filled in for her.

I still think John has an excellent chance to be the next Apprentice this season, as do Alex and maybe Tana and Bren..

------------------------------------------------

WEEK FIVE: The two teams were each given an Airstream Trailer to redesign and make into a service business. They had $5000 seed money to work with.

Magna lost again, but by a very slim margin - both brought in $900 and some change, if I remember correctly. Caroline wasn't there this week. A lady named Jill Cramer (sp?) filled in for her.

The winners, Net Worth, went to a very high-class jewelry store and each was able to spend $20,000 for a piece of jewelry.

Bren was the Project Manager this week, and he took Stephannie and Michael with him to the Boardroom where Michael, no surprise there, got fired.

------------------------------------------------

WEEK FOUR: Both teams were to make a Dove commercial. (By the way, if you would like to sign up to win a trip to the season's finale, go here: http://www.dove.com )

Magna did a terrible job and Net Worth didn't do much better. Kristen got fired because she was a bad project manager. There was no winning team this week.

Magna's commercial was X-rated for a family product and Net Worth showed a runner putting the body wash on his face. Number 1 - it was a BODY wash, number 2, he didn't get it washed off, just wiped off. Ug!

Erin took Bren and Michael into the Boardroom with her and Kristen took Audrey and Tana. It was a no brainer - Kristen got fired.

Donny Deutsch did the review of the commercials and said they were both bad.

------------------------------------------------

WEEK THREE: Well, we had a pretty fair indication last week that Verna wouldn't stick it out. She quit within the first few minutes of this week's episode. Danny supported her in her decision. Her team lost and Danny was fired.

Net Worth won and their reward was to fly in a huge helicopter around the city of Manhatten. It was beautiful!

------------------------------------------------

WEEK TWO: Wow! I'll say it again. Wow! Net Worth looked like such a together team last week. The Project Manager this week, Brian, was obviously the cause of most the problems on the Net Worth team, but grown adults yelling at each other even when he wasn't there? Hm.

Magna didn't do all that well either. No matter which team the camera focused on, it looked like they were going to lose for sure. Danny really came in with a great idea about everyone having a party, though, and I think that saved their bacon.

Their award was fantastic! A cruise on Donald's yacht and spend time with Steve Forbes!

------------------------------------------------

WEEK ONE of Season #3: Well, we met 18 new Candidates. The ones that stand out, to me, as viable Apprentice Candidates are Michael, Brian, John, and Tara. It's really too early to tell, though. I just think John did such an excellent job as Project Manager guiding his people to victory, that he's going to stand out for a long time!

The ones that I think will be leaving the show soon are Danny, Kristen, Tana, Audrey, Angie, and Craig. Alex messed up last edition, but I think if he doesn't do anything else to catch Trump's attention, he'll stay for a while.

Trump took the winners to the exclusive 21 Club for dinner.
