Dan was brought back, along with all of the rest of the Apprentice Candidates, to see if Lee or Sean will hire him to help them win. Neither did.

Dan was the project manager. He stood up for Tarek and let Tarek's idea of captions without audio stay in the commercial. Bad decision. Many argued badly in the Boardroom, especially Dan. If he would have brought Lenny to the Boardroom, (Lenny had the idea for the commercial -- a guy shipwrecked and taken aboard the luxury liner) it would probably have been Lenny who would have gotten fired. But who knows? I think Tarek had a bad idea, too, but he didn't get fired. Dan obviously allowed his friendship with Tarek, then, unfortunately, Tarek's remark "In the Boardroom you have no friends", color some of his decisions and take away his loyalty to Tarek. In my opinion, it looked like he possibly set aside his values the minute he started really arguing. He metamorphosed into a corporate shark fighting for his life as an apprentice. If he would have stepped aside from the situation and accessed his inner self, he wouldn't have felt so pressured. People don't argue like that when they are calm. I recommend that he read "Are You A Competitor?". What do you think?

Dan is of Jewish faith and he and Lee went to worship. They joined their teammates in the Boardroom, though, to show their support.
